Hangar Rentals

Has anyone had any experience with airplane hangar rentals? I recently came across a local hangar for sale in the resort community in which I live. I was hoping someone could give me a brief synopsis of the benefits and pitfalls of this specialized type of commercial real estate.

I have no hanager rental experience but am very active in other parts of the aviation industry.

I know hangar space is usually very limited at airports as available land is always an issue. In Anchorage, AK for example a hangar that would house a small single-engine airplane goes for about 5000-6000 per year.

Keep in mind too, especially in private airstrip subdivision as I believe you described...these people usually have paid top dollar for their aircraft. They are their pride and joy...hence the reason they live on an airstrip. Are they still building in that subdivision? If not, maybe a good place to look would be for people who live nearby, but couldn't get a lot on the strip. Try advertising through or contacting the airstrip's association.

    Food for thought.
