Pulled Over By The Cops
No, I really didn't get pulled over, but I was just testing this marketing thing...just wanted to see how many of you would open this up...lol
Anyway, I was just wondering have any of you heard of a case where someone was fined on the spot for putting up bandit signs. I got 600 signs and I'm putting these things out. My main concern when I am out is being stopped by the cops for putting these things up.
Last night I was trying my hardest not to be seen by 'one time' (slang for police) and the minute I turn my back, an unmarked car drives by. I was up on my little ladder, tie wrapping the sign to the pole and when I look down, one time is turning the corner. Heart beating, mouth getting dry, my rolodex of lies flipping through my head.....he just kept turning the corner and never stopped. You know when i was on my ladder I kept my eyes on him allllllllllllll the way down the street just knowing he was going to turn around. LOL.....Scary. Nope, he never turned around and I was never ticketed or fined. I'm still a little nervous when I'm out putting these things up, but I just wanted to hear your horror stories.
Neb,
Are your signs the white with red letters?
I've gotten lazy and have been paying someone to put mine out lately and I really don't worry about the po po, 5.0, one time, bustas... or whatever you'd like to call them.
Years ago I did a similar thing, because it was illegal and subject to a fine. Some ordenance or other. I just did it the legal way.
I created a rental agency within my office and what we did is list all of the multiple and single family housing that came on the market and directed those who bought the book of listings to call on the listed properties. In exchange they allowed me to put up a "For rent " sign with my office number. Of course we also included the words. We buy houses. It worked well. Sort of paid for itself many times over. The rental properties liked it as our signs were standout and could be seen easily in passing. Lots of multiple rentals do not have a resident manager and we of course would always show. After all they had bought the list or were a straight renter.
I suggest you consider this method. Makes all of your signs legal. I suggest you use a little better sign. White background telephone number in large Red Numbers and the message below.
Let the telephone number be larger and indent about five spaces and center it at the 2/3 spot on the sign, you know the first law of composition.

Yellow with red letters.
who do you pay and how much?...if you don't mind me asking.
I pay a buck a sign to a local company that puts out signs for all of the local builders.
