How To Remove Erroneous Credit Pull

smithj2 profile photo

All,

Does anyone know how to remove a credit inquiry that was done without my permission? I applied for a loan last month with Wachovia. My loan was approved and the day after approval they pulled my credit report. When I asked why, they stated that this was to check to see what other products I would qualify for.

Since I did not authorize this credit pull, was never contacted to be asked and I never signed anything giving them Carte Blanche to pull my credit report (the first pull was done over the phone for the mortgage application), How do I get this off? I spoke with Experian and they stated that only the lender (Wachovia) who initiated the inquiry has the right to challenge or remove a credit inquiry even if the inquiry was done in error.

Any thoughts on how to fight this one?

Thanks.

JS.

Is your credit that precarious that you worry about 1 pull?

    I smell scam..

    http://www.gscsc.net/news/myths-of-cpn-numbers-3.html

read on the Internet about CPN Numbers, more commonly called by so called credit experts, (Credit Privacy Numbers) which is totally incorrect. The fact is that CPN Numbers are merely a myth that needs further explanation, and to which needs to be exposed for what they really truly are. The Myths of CPN numbers, and the amount of money that they take from unsuspecting customers every day by fraudulent Internet businesses is astounding.
