Up to $35,000.00 per North Carolina household is now available through the Neighborhood Housing Renewal property improvement loan program according to Mr. Larry Goins program director for NHR in Lake Wylie, S.C. The program, unlike traditional lending institutions, requires no equity or appraisal and

homeowners may be eligible regardless of length of ownership, income, age, condition of home, marital status or credit history, Goins said.

The NHR program, offered in the state by ABC Inc., provides funds for improvements that encourage
energy conservation and maintains or increases the value of homes and neighborhoods. Some homeowners may even qualify to pay off existing bills. “ All payments are set to fit each homeowners budget, and there is no minimum or maximum income limits,” Goins said. Even if a person is retired or on a fixed income, they may still qualify.

Available funds may be used for improvements such as energy efficient vinyl siding and replacement windows, central heat/air, roofing, deck, remodel kitchen/bath, sunroom, addition, etc.

For each homeowners safety, comfort and security, all improvements are performed by a lender approved, state licensed contractor who must be fully insured. Approved contractor’s must also be financially sound, maintain satisfactory relationships with suppliers, have satisfactory credit rating and have no unresolved complaints at the Better Business Bureau.
